Journal Entry - One year of The People’s Palette
Today marks a year since I started my Colour Analysis stall at Glebe Markets.
From the day my partner bought me my first set of coloured drapes, I have been sharing my love for colour with people all around Australia
On my first day at Glebe Markets, my youngest sibling and I drove 2 hours from our family home on the Central Coast. We set up a shiny new blue gazebo, hung up hand-painted signs, and unfolded black Bunnings chairs that I borrowed from my parents. My first customers were friends and friends of friends. Big groups of them huddled around the mirror as I analysed each one. The commotion and joy at my stall attracted more attention from passersby. I saw 12 clients that day: 5 Autumns, 3 Summers, 3 Winters and 1 Spring.
With the help of my community, I was able to make profit on my first market stall.
Over the course of this last year, I’ve learnt that it is the support of a community which allows a small business to grow and thrive.
To my partner who bought me my first set of drapes and makes me feel like I can do anything, my parents who give me their support and advice without hesitation, and my family and friends who take the time to sit in my chair, model for me, share my content and celebrate my successes I say thank you from the bottom of my heart.
